Information: The ancient Egyptians believed in many different gods and goddesses. Each one had their own role to play in maintaining peace and harmony across the land.
- Anubis was a jackal headed god who was associated with death and was guardian of the cemeteries.
- Horus was represented with a falcon's head and was the god of the sky. Horus' left eye was seen as the moon and his right eye the sun and that they crossed the sky when he flew across it.
- The cat was worshiped by ancient Egyptians. The god Bast or Bastet was usually seen as a gently protective goddess with the body of a woman and the head of a cat.
- Osiris was the god of the underworld. In Osiris, the people saw the possibility that all Egyptians had a chance of an afterlife, not just the Pharaoh.
