Product Description: This Hawker Hurricane pin badge is made from lead-free pewter and is supplied on a pin with separate clasp. The pin badge is mounted on an information card that has an image of a Hurricane on the front and has information about the Hurricane on the reverse.
Information: The Hawker Hurricane is a British single-seat fighter aircraft used in World War II which was designed and predominantly built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. It was armed with 4 x 20mm Hispano Mk II cannons and could carry a total of around 500 lbs in bombs. It had a top speed of 340 mph and a range of around 600 miles.
This plane played a vital role during the Battle of Britain (10 July – 31 October 1940) where it accounted for c. 656 German aircraft shot down.
The only Victoria Cross awarded for Bravery during the Battle of Britain was given to Flt Lt J.B Nicholson flying a Hurricane from 249 Squadron.
