Information: The sallet helmet was a combat helmet that replaced the bascinet during the mid-15th century. Though predominately made in Italy and Germany a regional variety of sallet had evolved in England, termed the 'English-Burgundian style'. It was usually worn by a more completely armoured soldier and had a visor on the front with a long slit to see through. At the rear it had a protruding neck guard.
