Poppy Magnet

Product Description: This Poppy is made from resin and is a hand painted model. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance of World War I. It is presented with a magnet on the reverse. The poppy magnet is supplied with an information card that has an image of poppies on the front and describes how the poppy became a symbol of World War I on the reverse.

Information: After the First World War the poppy was adopted as a symbol of Remembrance. Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, who served in the war, was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in battle-scarred fields to write a now famous poem called ‘In Flanders Fields’. Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to grow in the churned-up earth of soldiers’ graves in Flanders, a region of Belgium.
