Information: The onager (catapult) was a Roman torsion powered siege engine. It is commonly depicted as a catapult with a bowl, or sling at the end of its throwing arm. The onager was first mentioned in 353AD by Ammianus Marcellinus. They were mainly used for besieging forts or settlements and would often be armed with huge stones or rocks that could be covered with a combustible substance and set alight.
