Information: Minerva was the goddess of wisdom and of war in Roman mythology. She is often depicted with her sacred creature, an owl usually named as the "owl of Minerva", which symbolised her association with wisdom and knowledge. Owls were therefore popular in jewellery and coinage. On coinage, Minerva’s representation was used to signify victory, she is always shown wearing a helmet and full length dress and often with her owl sat on her outreached hand.
