Roman Ruler - 30cm

Product Description: The Roman Ruler is made from wood and measures 30cm long. On the reverse, it shows measurements in both inches and centimetres. On the inches scale it includes units of 1/8 of an inch and on the centimetre side units of 5 millimetres.

The front of the ruler shows measurements in centimetres and also the Roman inch (unciae) and foot (pes). The is also a description of Roman measurements and their numbering system.

Information: The Roman foot (pes) measured 295.7mm or 11.6 inches (to the nearest tenth) and was made up of 12 inches (unciae). Their pace (passus) measured 1.48 metres. 1,000 paces measured a Roman mile or 1,480 metres, 1,618 yards.

Roman numerals are a combination of seven letters: I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500), and M (1,000). For example, eight letters are needed for 88 – LXXXVIII.
