Information: Towns and cities grew rapidly during Victorian times and the population soaring. The largest area of growth came from London and the industrial towns in the north of England such a Leeds, Bradford and Manchester. Victorian towns were very busy places with street vendors selling fruit and vegetables from barrows and stalls, farmers selling livestock, butchers, fishmongers, pubs, banks, schools and theatres.
Carts, cabs and trams were pulled by horses through the streets and men rode around on early bicycles which came to be known as Penny Farthings.
