Product Description: The Viking History Ruler is plastic and measures 30cm long. It shows measurements in both inches and centimetres. On the inches scale it includes units of 1/16 of an inch and on the centimetre side units of 1 millimetre.
On the front of the ruler are images of the Vikings in battle, a Lewis chess piece, a Viking coin and a Viking wooden carving. On either side are Viking scroll designs.
On the reverse of the ruler is a Viking timeline. The timeline starts from AD 793 and the Viking raids on the Northumbrian coastline and the Lindisfarne Abbey and runs through to 1066 when William I defeated Harold at the Battle of Hastings. Highlights include Dublin is founded by the Vikings 840, the Vikings settle in England 876, England is divided by the Danelaw pact 886, Aethelred II pays Danegeld to stop attacks on England 991 and Knut rules England 1016-35.
