Product Description: This Miniature Burma Star medal is made from lead-free pewter that is 22ct gold plated. It is supplied with approximately 9cm of ribbon. The medal is mounted on a fold-over information card that has an image of a British mortar team on the front and has historical information about the medal and cover image on the reverse.
Information: Burma 1941 – 1945. Qualifying service in the Burma campaign counted from 11 December 1941 and included service in the Bengal or Assam from 1 May 1942 to 31 December 1943, and from 1 January 1944 onwards in these parts of Bengal or Assam east of the Brahmaputra. Naval service in the eastern bay of Bengal, off the coasts of Sumatra, Sunda and Malacca also counted.
Cover Image – A British mortar team in action during the Battle of Imphal. The mortar proved a most effective weapon in jungle warfare. This battle proved a turning point in the war in Burma against the Japanese when the 14th army advanced until victory was won.
